  • CUTTING-EDGE FUNDAMENTAL AND APPLIED RESEARCH

    Research is performed in the fields of neurodynamics and neurobiology. The main purpose of this research is to provide fundamental knowledge about the principles and mechanisms of cellular and intercellular signaling among brain neurons and glial cells.

  • NOVEL EDUCATIONAL PROGRAMS BASED ON STATE-OF-THE-ART DEVELOPMENTS IN NEUROSCIENCE

    Training of specialists and graduate students in neuroscience who possess the fundamental knowledge in modern neuroscience as well as in-depth physical and mathematical background.

RESEARCH ACTIVITIES

  1. Optical neuroimaging (investigation of brain cell activity using fluorescent microscopy).
  2. Cellular and network electrophysiology (patch-clamp recordings, registration of multisite field potentials in slices and cellular cultures).
  3. Investigation of mechanisms of synaptic and extra-synaptic signal transmission in the brain. Synaptic plasticity.
  4. Role of cellular mechanisms in cognitive functions: learning, memory, emotions, etc.
  5. Modeling information processing functions in neuron-glial brain circuits (spiking patterns, associative memory, information encoding and decoding).
  6. The development of neuromimetic information processing systems (neuroanimats).
