The Nizhny Novgorod Neuroscience Center (NNNC)

General Information

The Nizhny Novgorod Neuroscience Center (NNNC) was constructed in October 2012. NNNC carries a wide range of research directions in neuroscience (brain physiology), from molecular and cellular level to studying of cognitive functions and robotics. NNNC is located in a new building ( №7 UNN), specifically designed accordingly with all necessary requirements for research institutes and laboratories. It should be noted that one floor in the building is situated animal facility room for breeding of transgenic animals, which are necessary to perform experimental procedures on a highest level. The first laboratory, which has caused the origination of NNNC is the laboratory of Extracellular matrix studying, created in 2010 by prof. Alexander Dityatev with a support from grant program of Russian Ministry of Education. In a result, for period from 2012 to 2013 members of NNNC had published more than 20 scientific papers in leading journals, cited in Web of Science, Scorpus databases. NNNC is actively involved in international educational programs. Presently NNNC is a center of Postgraduate Training Network in Biotechnology of Neurosciences BioN, organized with the financial support of Tempus IV grant program. BioN is a first scientific postgraduate training network in Russia, that serves an innovative development of Biotechnology in Russia. The implementing BioN program was created consortium of leading scientific centers involved in biotechnology research, collaborating with universities and research institutes. In 2012 on a base of NNNC was organizes scientific school “Neurobiotechnology”. The school provided advanced educational courses, seminars and workshops organized under the supervision of leading international scientists in neuroscience.
